Jessica Sanchez dramatically escaped elimination last week when the
American Idol judges used their one 'save' of the season to keep her in the
contest.
And 16-year-old Jessica Sanchez came out fighting on tonight's show, blowing the
judges away with two impressive performances.

Jessica Sanchez impressed all the judges with a mature rendition,
promping Jennifer to declare: 'I'm so glad you're here with us. I'm so glad we
had a save and I'm so glad we used it on you.'The San Diego native joined six other
finalists singing two songs - one number one hit released between the year 2000
and the present day, and then one 'soul song from back in the day.'Jessica chose Otis Redding's Try a Little
Tenderness for her soul song and performed it with pitch perfect vocals,
although the judges all said she needed more emotion.

'American Idol' has a new winner: Scotty McCreery, 17, of North Carolina. Scotty won the Season 10 title tonight, beating out 16-year-old Georgia belle Lauren Alaina. The results were announced during the live season finale on Fox.
The North Carolina native, who pitches for his high school baseball team
and used to work in a grocery store in his hometown of Garner, captured
the hearts of "American Idol" fans across the nation with his good
looks, quiet confidence and deep baritone country voice.

There have no secret that Jennifer López takes the American Idol auditions to heart, occasionally tearing up over a contestant’s story of personal struggles, or over a moving performance.
Jennifer López said “I was surprised because I was ready to vote. I thought I was being Punk'd. How can we let this girl go?' I was upset. When I believe in something … I knew this girl deserves the chance.”
